Our Mission

The mission of Jesuit High School is to educate young men of the Sacramento region to be intellectually distinguished, morally courageous, and compassionate in service to others. It is our goal to make our education available to as many qualified young men as possible. We do this in two ways: First - In keeping with our commitment to the vision of St. Ignatius, Jesuit High School charges a tuition less than the true cost of education - for all students. we do not charge tuition that covers the full cost of the school’s operating expenses. Second - we provide financial aid to those in need. During the 2007/08 school year, 15% of our students will receive financial aid.

Gap Graph

How Much Does Tuition Cover?

Cost of School Operations (per student) $ 13,675
Tuition & Student Body Fees (per student) $ 10,390
Registration/Student Body Fee (per student) $ 500
The "GAP" (per student) $ 2,785

How Can I Help?

Each year donors ask – What Should I Give? $2,785 per student is needed to close the "gap" for the 2007/08 school year. Many donors cannot afford to give the full "gap" amount, while others can give in excess of the "gap" amount. Every gift is greatly appreciated, and every gift makes a difference!

When deciding what amount works best for you, please consider that we request that Annual Fund contributions be fulfilled within our fiscal year which is July 1 – June 30. For your convenience payment schedules can be customized to fit your needs – one time payment, twice a year, 10 monthly payments (Sept – June), etc. Payment can be by Check, American Express, VISA, MasterCard, or new this year – Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).

Frequently Asked Questions?

What is Annual Giving?

With education costs continuing to escalate year after year, Annual Giving contributions – gifts to Annual Fund, PACE, Special Donations – all go to pay for the operating costs of the school. These “annual” contributions help to offset the actual cost of a Jesuit education and the amount parents are charged for tuition.

Why not just raise the tuition?

In keeping with our commitment to the vision of St. Ignatius, Jesuit High School charges a tuition less than the true cost of education to all students. This results in a deficit, which is made up through gifts to the Annual Fund, P.A.C.E. and other fundraising efforts.

If tuition was raised to the actual cost of education, this approach would place too large of a burden on parents, and would make it impossible for many young men to have the opportunity to receive a Jesuit education. Another reason for not raising tuition to actual cost, is that there would be no benefit to parents at income tax time – a gift to Jesuit through Annual Giving Fund may be a tax benefit!

Who Gives To The Annual Fund?

All Jesuit High School families are asked! Freshmen and transfer parents at the New Parent Dinners in the fall; We also reach out to all other current parents, alumni parents, alumni and friends of Jesuit through appeal letters, visits and phone calls.

How is the money used?

Annual Giving Fund gifts are used to cover the operating costs of the school, including curriculum improvement, upport of co-curricular activities – including athletics, fine arts, campus ministry and Christian service; offering of scholarship aid, and much more.

How much should I give?

$2,785 per student is needed to close the gap for 2007/08. Many families cannot afford to give the full amount, while others can give in excess of the gap amount. When deciding what amount works best for your family, please consider that we request that Annual Fund contributions be fulfilled within our fiscal year which is July 1 – June 30. For your convenience payment schedules can be customized to fit your needs – one time payment, twice a year, 10 monthly payments (Sept – June), etc. Payment can be by Check, VISA, MasterCard, or Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).
