"Too much studying!"
Always a possibility (but not likely). Average study
time is about 2-3 hours per night. That's not bad when you consider that you are taking
college-prep courses. |
|
"I'm not Catholic."
About 20% of our student body is non-Catholic. Mass is held about once a
month and is ecumenical in nature. Students of all faiths are
welcomed and encouraged to participate in all of the spiritual programs offered. |
|
"No Girls!"
In the classroom, on a daily basis, you are correct.
But, there are plenty of activities, such as Drama, Pep Band, and Orchestra, that involve girls. The school provides numerous dances, as do the other three Catholic high schools in the area, and the cheering section at sporting events is always packed.

|
"Class Size?"
School-wide, the average class size is 28 students. Upper division classes
are traditionally smaller to assure a great deal of interaction between teachers and students. |
|
 |
"Can't make athletic teams." Almost everyone can make at least one of the teams. Many of our sports, such as cross country,
water polo, football, track and swimming do not cut. In addition to interscholastic athletics, more than 400 students participate in Jesuit's organized intramural program, which includes basketball, volleyball and soccer. |

"Getting accepted to Jesuit is too difficult!"
Although acceptance is an honor, it is not as difficult as most people seem to think. If you have solid grades and are working to ability, do well on our Placement Test and get strong letters of
recommendation, you are a prime candidate for next year's freshman class. |
 |
|
"Will I struggle academically?"
Jesuit has a number of support systems to keep a student from "slipping through the cracks." Once you're in, we want to keep you in! One of our most successful programs is Peer Tutoring which meets (by subject) every morning before school, during lunch or after school. Students can also get extra help from teachers who open their classrooms before and after school and at lunch. Our library is open before and after school and provides students with a quiet place to work. Our faculty and staff take a personal interest in all students and will do whatever they can to help you succeed! |
|
 |
"Friends go elsewhere."
This does not mean that you have to say "goodbye" to them. You can make new friends at Jesuit. Remember that at least 75 schools send students here. Also, the school offers over 40 clubs, a full complement of sports teams, bands, drama, newspaper and yearbook to ensure that you will have numerous opportunities to develop friendships. Finally, Freshman Orientation, Freshman Retreat and Big Brother programs are 3 ways to meet new people quickly. |
|
"Transportation?"
Jesuit attracts students from all over the greater Sacramento area including Auburn, Davis, Placerville, Elk Grove and Woodland. Car pooling assistance is available through the Loyola Guild parents' club. With a student body of 1,000, there may be another student that lives in your area. |
|
"Expense:"
Although Jesuit offers neither athletic nor academics scholarships, this year Jesuit has provided assistance to more than 145 students who needed financial aid. No Student who qualifies for Jesuit has been rejected because of financial need. Once a student has been accepted, he may apply for assistance. |
