Jesuit Sacramento High School

 

Curriculum

Jesuit High School is a college preparatory and, as such, students graduating from Jesuit will have completed a course of study which satisfies the minimum admissions requirements of most colleges and universities in the United States. Freshmen schedules are determined by reviewing current grades, teacher recommendations, and test scores (both the HSPT taken in January and department designed, curriculum-based placement tests taken in April).

9th Grade Requirement:

English I  Placement in a basic, college preparatory or accelerated program is based on test results, elementary school grades, and writing sample.
Algebra I A basic course is offered. Students may obtain advanced placement by taking challenge exams in Algebra I and/or Geometry at registration in April.
Global Studies History, Cultures and Geography.
Foreign Language French, German, Latin, and Spanish are offered. Advanced placement testing is administered at registration in April.
Fine Arts/Physical Ed. One semester of each is required in the Freshman year. Art electives include Art of Diverse Cultures, Art of Film, Studio Art (Drawing), Band, and Chorus. P.E. includes a Health and Safety component.
Theology One semester - Introduction to Catholic Faith.
Science One semester of General Science (an introduction to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science and Astronomy) or Pre-AP Biology. Placement testing is administered at registration in April.

Jesuit offers 25 Honors level and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Numerous other courses are offered as accelerated (XL) placements providing a faster pace of teaching and more in-depth coverage of the standard course material.
