 How Can I Help?

Did you know that tuition covers only about 80% of the cost of a Jesuit High School education?  The remaining expenses are covered by fundraising efforts, the largest being the Jesuit Annual Fund.

Our mission and tradition of providing the best Jesuit education possible is challenged each year by rising costs to operate the school - books, supplies, salaries, electricity, gas, etc. - just like the rising costs you face at home and in your business.  Continuing in the teachings of St. Ignatius, we do not charge full tuition ~ for any student.  In addition, being a Catholic, private high school, we do not receive State or Federal aid; we also do not receive any funding from the Catholic church.

The Jesuit Annual Fund is at the core of our fundraising which covers the shortfall between the full cost to educate our students and the tuition that we charge.  In order to succeed, we invite alumni, parents - current & past, faculty, staff and friends to contribute to the Annual Fund.  Every gift makes a difference ~ your gift, large or small ~ supports the day to day operations of Jesuit - from curriculum development, to campus ministry, teachers' salaries, athletics, Christian service, fine arts, student activities, building maintenance and more.  Your gift helps keep tuition costs down ~ for all students.

Our challenge for the 2009/10 Annual Fund is to raise $910,000 by June 30, 2010.  Just as our academic success hinges upon the diligence of our students and teachers, so too, our students and teachers depend upon the alliance of alumni, parents - current & past, and friends who continue to support the school and our mission with their generosity.

To meet our needs, we invite all of our supporters ~  Alumni, Parents - Current & Past, and Friends ~ to consider a Challenge gift to the Jesuit Annual Fund.  A Challenge gift covers the shortfall between tuition charged and the full cost of educating each student.  This year, the Challenge gift per student is $2,670.

The current fiscal year runs from July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2010.  Please consider making a gift to the Jesuit Annual Fund this year.  Every gift ~ no matter what size ~ makes a difference in the lives of our students every day.

Donor's who annual gifts paid to Jesuit High School during the 2009/10 fiscal year total $2,500 or more, are recognized by membership in the President's Club.  Members are invited to a dinner each Fall hosted by our President, Father Gregory R. Bonfiglio, S.J., and honored for their generosity to JHS!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:    What is the Jesuit Annual Fund?
A:    The Jesuit Annual Fund is comprised of gifts received each year from dedicated
and generous alumni, parents - current & past, faculty, staff and friends.  The
proceeds are used in support of the school's annual operating costs.

Q:    How does a gift to the Jesuit Annual Fund help make a difference?
A:     Your gift to the Jesuit Annual Fund helps cover the shortfall between the full
cost of tuition and the amount of tuition and fees charged.  Your gift helps keep
        tuition down for all students!

Q:    How is the money given to the Jesuit Annual Fund used?
A:     Your gift to the Jesuit Annual Fund helps cover the school’s annual operating
costs, including curriculum development and improvement, support of co-curricular
activities – including athletics, fine arts, robotics, campus ministry, and Christian
        Service, and much more.

Q:     Why not just raise tuition?
A:     If tuition were raised to the actual cost of educating each student, it would place
too large of a burden on many parents, and would make it impossible for many
qualified young men to experience a Jesuit education. Additionally, gifts to the
Jesuit Annual Fund are tax deductible!

Q:     Who gives to the Jesuit Annual Fund?
A:     All members of the Jesuit community are invited to give. Alumni, parents – current
and past, and friends of Jesuit are all asked to join in our Ignatian Partnership.
Each gift helps continue the mission and tradition of Jesuit High School.

Q:     How much should I give?
A:     Our challenge is to cover the shortfall for each student attending Jesuit High
School between the full cost of tuition versus tuition charged. Our goal is to raise
$1,440,000 through annual giving gifts in 2009/10.  We ask all to consider the
needs of the school when making a giving decision, and to be as generous as your
        personal circumstances allow.
Every gift, no matter the amount, makes a
        difference!

Q:    What is the Challenge gift this year?
