Transfer Application Procedure 2011
Thank you for your interest in transferring to Jesuit High School.
We are happy to accept your application and will consider a number of criteria in the admissions decision: grade point average in college preparatory classes from your current school, positive recommendations, and your ability to add to the spirit and mission of Jesuit High School. Other considerations for admission include the availability of space in appropriate classes.
You will need to download:
• The Application for Transfer Admission information packet, application, parental statement form and information form. Tip: use the printer icon located below the menu bar, not the file/print command from the menu bar.
• The following four recommendation forms to be completed by your pastor/minister, English teacher, math teacher and principal.
• Academic record report release form.
Transfer applications for the 2011/2012 school year will be available here beginning December 1, 2010. If you have any questions regarding the transfer process, please call us at (916) 482-6060, ext. 227
If you plan to apply for tuition assistance you will also need to download:
• The financial aid instruction memo and the student aid application form.
While we strongly recommend submitting all items by the deadlines listed below, our transfer process is a rolling (open ended) process in which we occasionally accept applications through the summer depending upon available space.
- If you are a potential entering sophomore, register online to take the High School Placement Test on January 22, 2011. Registration opens on December 1, 2010.
- If you plan to apply for tuition assistance, you must complete the student aid application form and mail it so that it is postmarked no later than February 25 to Private School Aid Services in Lakewood, Ohio.
- Complete the Application for Transfer Admission, Parental Statements and Transfer Applicant Information Form by March 23, 2011. If you did not take the High School Placement Test, be sure to include a $10 application processing fee.
- Request your academic report be provided to Jesuit High School by providing your school administrator with the required release form. Be sure to print your information at the top and sign the release to authorize the release of information. Your records will include your academic records, standardized test results and disciplinary history (if any). We suggest you give the form to your school’s administration office by the end of February to ensure timely completion by March 23, 2011.
- Provide your principal, English teacher and math teacher with the appropriate recommendation form. Be sure to put your information at the top and sign the release to authorize the release of information. We suggest you provide these forms to your principal and teachers by the end of February at the latest, to ensure timely and thoughtful completion by March 23, 2011.
- Provide your faith leader (pastor, minister, rabbi, etc.) with the pastor/minister recommendation form. The form verifies your interest in religious activities. If you are unable to secure a recommendation, please use the back of the form to explain why you desire an education in a religious, Catholic setting. The form is required even if you are not participating actively at present. We suggest you provide these forms to your faith leader by the end of February at the latest, to ensure timely and thoughtful completion by March 23, 2011.
- Request and provide a letter of recommendation from your faith leader by March 23 if you are not attending a Catholic school now. This is in addition to the recommendation form. The letter need not be long but it is helpful to flesh out our understanding of your interest in a religious educational setting.
- Complete a personal interview with the Director of Admissions in mid-April. The interested student and at least one parent should participate in the meeting, which will last for 30-45 minutes at a mutually convenient date and time.
Admission decisions for transfer applications will be mailed in late May. Final acceptance will be dependent upon verification of final grades. In some cases, acceptance may be pending until the end of summer as the availability of capacity in appropriate classes becomes clear.
