Summer Senior Service
In addition to the service immersion programs that are taking place this summer, there are many other great opportunities for our seniors to fulfill their 50-hour senior service requirement such as the senior summer school class and host of summer camps. For each our of summer programs we require "direct contact with a marginalized community" while also providing a reflection component that allows our students to sink deeper into why service is important, how their faith can be strengthened and once more live into being "A Man for Others." Please check-out the following links to see what over 150 of our seniors are up to this summer.

SENIOR SUMMER CAMPS
Today's Youth Matters is a non-profit, which focuses on offering battered women and abused children an environment of empowering relationships, loving mentorship and a reason for hope and a future. During the summer TYM puts on summer camps for foster children who need supportive male role models in their life. Our Jesuit student leaders will receive a camp buddy who they will accompany during the course of their camp session and do all things “camp” like canoeing, arts & crafts, campfires, sports but mostly have fun!
Muscular Dystrophy Association Camp is located at Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake near Susanville, CA. Our Jesuit student leaders will be assigned a camp buddy who has a neuromuscular disorder. Each volunteer will be helping their camp buddy with pushing their wheelchairs, assisting with walking, eating, toileting, bathing and dressing. The foremost importance for the Jesuit students is to build relationships with the camper.
CampReCreation is a summer camp program for persons with developmental disabilities, offering participants a weeklong opportunity for fun social interactions and spiritual growth while allowing the camper’s parents and care givers valuable rest. Camp ReCreation companions adults and children with various types of developmental disabilities including Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and more. Camp ReCreation is staffed entirely by volunteers, including a large amount of students from Jesuit. Camp ReCreation has many returning volunteers generously sharing their energy and gifts because it is such a rich experience.
